Clocks fall back an hour early Sunday morning, so sunset jumps from 6pm Saturday to 4:59pm Sunday. And a pod of 16 to 20 Eastern Tropical Pacific killer whales showed up off Laguna Saturday morning. Laguna Lore
Ever wonder how the Laguna Playhouse got its start? It was founded as a community theater in 1920, which makes it one of the oldest continuously operating nonprofit theaters on the West Coast, and it staged its first show, "Suppressed Desires," in 1922. It closed for the first time in 1942 to help house USO soldiers during WWII, and in 1965 a young Harrison Ford appeared in "John Brown's Body." In September 1969 it moved to its current home at 606 Laguna Canyon Rd. The original spot is now Parking Lot 2 between Forest Ave and Ocean Ave, where an honorary call board is on display.
