Laguna Lore
The painters showing up this week are the oldest tradition in town. In 1918, artists Anna Hills, Edgar Payne and their friends formed the Laguna Beach Art Association, and by 1929 they had built the custom gallery that became Laguna Art Museum. So when you watch someone at an easel in Heisler Park this week, you're watching the thing Laguna was built on.
Photo: the Art Association's first gallery, 1918. Admission free, even then. Orange County Archives.

That's it for this week, see you out there!
